For Confirmands
The purpose of confirmation is to provide a space for confirmands to decide whether to take on for themselves the promises their parents and sponsors made on their behalf at baptism. To this end, in addition to the guided learning, our confirmation curriculum centers around participatory experiences designed to enable confirmands to live into the promises of their baptism. These experiences will be the launch point for group discussions. The goal is not simply to transfer information about the Christian faith and Lutheran tradition; but to foster spiritual formation. Moreover, research shows that the most important catalyst for fostering faith that lasts into adulthood, is when families discuss their faith together at home. Thus, most topics will be accompanied by guided family “table talks” and spiritual practices for you and your family to engage in together at home.
